Day 1
Day 1: Train to Km 104, Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

This short hiking tour along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu begins with your pick-up at your hotel at 4:00 a.m. Next, we will go to the Ollantaytambo train station to take our train at approximately 7:45 a.m. The train follows the Urubamba river until we reach Km104, where we will start our trek. On the way, you will have some spectacular views of the countryside. At the starting point of our hike, you will be provided with a lunch package and some energy drinks you might like to have walking to our first Inca site. After a tour of this archeological site, we will begin to walk uphill, on a soft road with a unique view to the original Inca road, heading towards the Classic Inca Trail. After walking for several hours, we’ll reach the most beautiful Inca site on the Inca Trail: Wiñay Wayna (Forever Young) at 2,600 m / 8,500 feet. Getting to this most wonderful place, you may want to take some photos of the Inca terraces, the large water source, the temples and some agricultural crops that surround the area. From Wiñay Wayna, we will walk to the Sun Gate (Puerta del Sol), where we will see the picturesque landscape of Machu Picchu. After enjoying the unique views for real, we will see Machu Picchu without many people as the travelers who visit during the day, will have returned home already.  After taking some pictures, we’ll take the bus to Aguas Calientes and we’ll go to our hotel to have a rest.

Accommodation: 3 star hotel Casa Andina (or similar).

Meals included: lunch and dinner.
