Cusco City Tour Half day

1 Day

Cusco is the center of Inca history and home to some of the most important archeological sites of Peru. Exploring them with a guide will make this period of history come alive to you. During the Cusco City Tour we will visit the beautiful Cathedral on the main square (la Plaza de Armas) and the Temple of the Sun, and then head for the city outskirts by car to visit the 4 main Inca ruins including Sacsayhuaman. From here, you will have some of the most beautiful views of Cusco, so don’t forget to bring your camera.

 • Daily departures from our office at 257 Cuychipuncu Road in Cusco.
 • Hours: 1:20 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
 • Pick up from hotel for Private Groups at 1:00 pm
 • This is a MUST DO – NOT to be missed!

At 1 p.m., we will meet you at your hotel lobby to begin our tour. From here, we will head for Cusco’s Plaza de Armas, where you will visit its famous cathedral. Following our visit, we’ll continue on foot walking through an ancient Inca-built street from the Plaza de Armas to the Q’oricancha, the Temple of the Sun. At the Q’oricancha we’ll be able to compare and contrast the building methods of the Inca culture with those of Catholicism. This was the key spiritual centre of the Incas, which led to all four quarters of the Inca Empire. There is also a bronze, high altar to be seen.

From Q’oricancha, our group will walk down Avenida El Sol, where we will take our bus getting us 25 minutes outside of the city. We’ll be taken to the majestic Inca site of Sacsayhuaman with its enigmatic, 200 ton monoliths. Your guide will give you a tour and then, there’s time to explore the site on your own.

From Sacsayhuaman, we will take a five minute bus ride to Q’enqo to see its fascinating Inca altars. Next, we’ll take another five minute bus ride to Puca Pucara, a small, circular Inca site. The final stop on our tour is Tambomachay, a water temple with impressive water fountains, thought to be used by the Inca for bathing. We’ll then drive back to Cusco where the tour ends at the Plaza de Armas, unless you are taking a private tour, in which case, we will drop you off at your hotel.
