Salkantay Trek is one of the best adventure alternatives that will allow you to visit Machu Picchu in 5 days and 4 nights in a 73 kilometer (45.3 miles) journey. Of course you should count a little more physical condition since the route is relatively longer and you could even say that the road is somewhat more rugged. However, there are several points in favor of this tour of the Inca Trail through the Salkantay of 5 days and 4 nights.

One of them is that it is definitely an even more authentic adventure in which you will explore the remote road and climb up one of the highest points of Peru: the Salkantay, and then descend through the cloud forest near the jungle region. Another point in favor of this tour is that you will not find many people compared to the other alternatives that also arrive in Machu Picchu. So you will travel with a small group of about 8 people maximum.
